Blogging about Blogging: An Introduction to SKOOL

Blog is such a weird word...I was super curious about what it could mean, as I usually am about everything, so I Googled it. I found out that it is just a shortened version of the term “web log” which is actually kind of cool and random.  I have been thinking for some time about what my first blog post would be about.  There are so many things that I love to think about and discuss, so naturally it has been difficult to land on the first topic.  Now I am in disbelief over the fact that my first blog post is about...blog posting.  Well to be more specific it is about MY blog posting, and it is more of an introduction I guess.  I figure that with my scatterbrain, it is probably necessary to explain to any audience that I may have, why it is that they are going to be getting complete randomness if they continue to read my blogs. I’m honestly not sure exactly where I expect this to go, but I know that writing is an amazing release for me, so if nothing else it will be therapeutic.  The types of topics that I expect to write about include relationships, politics, nutrition, fitness, technology, personal finance, history, society, and whatever else I happen to find interesting on any given day.
I am a full time teacher, a personal trainer in training, and a  writer of stories, poetry and rap songs.  I have had an interesting life so far, all of which has given me a unique outlook on life.  Lets see if I can run down my life in ummmm 3 sentences.  I grew up in inner city Tampa, and I went to the Army right after graduation.  In the Army I worked as an air traffic controller, and lived in Germany, New York, and Virginia and I love to travel.  I earned a Bachelors in History, and a Masters in Education, and I played football and rugby after serving in the Army.   That's it, me in 3 sentences.  I left out at least a few things, but I am sure I will pick some of those things up in another post.  Wait...I have to add at least one more line, you have no clue who I am, I am Skool, which stands for Seek Knowledge or Only Lose.  I always thought that the name Skool was kind of cheesy, but at the end of the day, I love what it stands for so I am keeping it.
I recently completed a mixtape, which is available at my website www.SkoolFL.com, and I love attending open mic and poetry nights. I have already decided what my next blog post will be, a look at the response to Treyvon Martin’s death and a review of the response to racism. I've already begun my research and I am sure many will disagree with my beliefs, but I am used to that. Between these types of longer, throughout posts I will likely leave many shorter messages, thoughts, and quotes.  Thanks for taking the time to read my words, and I look forward to adding more until then ...Seek Knowledge Or Only Lose!
